Google officially authorized to acquire Mandiant – ICT news

The US Department of Justice has just authorized Google to buy security products supplier Mandiant for $5.4 billion.

Mandiant is launching a SaaS product in the field of security and will be part of Google Cloud. Google thus intends to strengthen its security offer, in order to better compete with Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services.

Google announced the takeover in March, but it sparked quite a bit of protest. One of Mandiant’s shareholders had filed a lawsuit to block the transaction. The case has yet to be judged, but Google has therefore already obtained the green light from the authorities. The tech giant hopes to finalize the merger by the end of 2022.
