Gradually, Crypto Gouv will offer Internet users the opportunity to meet in groups (groups “pools”) to invest together. It promises very enticing returns on investment and many follow it. “Investors have placed a hundred euros, others several tens of thousands of euros”specifies Me Asta-Vola, “in a very short time, many groups and investment projects have been set up by Crypto Gouv”. So much so that some members of the community began to have suspicions. But too late.

On July 9, Crypto Gouv publicly announced on its usual discussion channels that it was leaving with the funds. “It’s as if you had entrusted a sum to a financial investment adviser and that he simply left with your money”, explains Me Asta-Vola. As a provocation, Crypto Gouv has published an ultimate tutorial, in which he details the underside of the scam. He himself specifies the penalty incurred: five years’ imprisonment. As revealed to France Inter the Paris prosecutor’s office, the investigation opened in mid-July was entrusted to the gendarmes of the research section of the capital. The damage is estimated at 4 million euros, according to a source familiar with the matter.

Cryptocurrencies, fertile ground for scams
